Introduction

Easel – Mobile App Prototype (Jan–Apr 2025)

Easel is a mobile app prototype designed to help users discover, save, and organize artwork they love in one personalized space. Inspired by the experience of exploring galleries, the app allows users to curate collections, track favorite artists, and revisit meaningful pieces with ease.

This project focuses on simplifying the way people engage with art by combining discovery and organization into a seamless, visually-driven experience. From initial concept to prototype, the goal was to create an intuitive platform that makes art more accessible, memorable, and personal.

Problem

Art enthusiasts often struggle to keep track of pieces they discover across different platforms, galleries, and social media. There is no centralized, user-friendly space that allows individuals to easily save, organize, and revisit artwork in a meaningful way. Existing solutions either focus heavily on artists and sales or lack intuitive tools for personal curation, making the experience fragmented and overwhelming. As a result, users lose connection with the art they love and miss opportunities to build a deeper, more organized relationship with it.

Solution

Easel addresses this gap by providing a centralized, visually intuitive platform where users can seamlessly discover, save, and organize artwork in one place. The app allows users to curate personalized collections, explore new pieces based on their interests, and easily revisit saved works without losing track. By combining discovery with simple organizational tools, Easel creates a more meaningful and streamlined experience that helps users stay connected to the art they love while building their own digital gallery.

Lessons Learned

Throughout this project, I learned the importance of designing with both emotion and usability in mind. While art is a highly personal and visual experience, creating an intuitive system for organizing and revisiting pieces required thoughtful information architecture and user flow planning. I also gained experience in balancing aesthetics with functionality—ensuring the interface remained visually engaging without overwhelming the user. Additionally, this project reinforced the value of user-centered design, iteration, and feedback in refining a concept into a more polished and purposeful solution.
